About DanceAddictionYXE

With a wide variety of classes tailored to every experience level, DanceAddictionYXE is here to make you a more confident partner on the dance floor in west coast swing, nightclub, and country two step.

DanceAddictionYXE is led by Katie and Lorne Jensen. Originating out of their humble basement studio in 2019, their business has grown to teach large and lively studio classes regularly in Saskatoon. Their core programming is a structured curriculum of recreational dance classes in West Coast Swing, and introductory classes in nightclub and two-step.

Katie and Lorne met dancing in 2012, and found an instant connection with each other through west coast swing. The dance took them to multiple events to train and compete. The knowledge they gained along the way and the experience of the dance scene motivates them to bring that same knowledge and feeling to Saskatoon.

West Coast Swing
West Coast Swing is a popular form of swing dancing that has spread across the world. Although it’s history and roots come from lindy hop, part of the appeal of WCS is that it is an adaptable dance; it can be danced to a variety of musical styles and genres! In addition, the dance itself creates room for improvisation and interaction between the partners. Combine these elements with the ethos of a street dance—most west coast dancers resist the urge to formalize the dance into a ballroom-like curriculum—and it’s easy to see why west coast can be so hard to define but so easy to love!
Nightclub Two Step
Nightclub Two Step is a social dance created in the mid 1960’s as a way for people to dance to ballad style songs. In the late 1990’s the country western dancers started adopting it as a core social and competitive dance as a new wave of slow music became popular. It’s the perfect slow dance for social dance situations.
Country Two Step
Country two step is a partner dance with a leader and a follower involving walks and spins to the timing of quick, quick, slow, slow, typically danced to fast country western music. This dance follows the line of dance, which travels in a counter clockwise circle around the room.
